How I've Made (a little) Money Blogging
I never got around to writing a post on the different methods I have used to make a little money through blogging. Mind you, I haven't made much. The last few months I've averaged about $80/month in income from blogging. But, I don't think that's too bad considering I never put much effort into making an income.
If you are wanting to make a part-time income from blogging, then the list I'm about to give you is insufficient. But if you already have a blog or you're looking to start a blog and just want to make a little extra money, then consider these sources:
- The easiest and most obvious: Google Adsense. Just let Google put ads on your blog, cross your fingers that readers click on your ads, and watch the pennies pile up!
- Amazon Affiliates - Get paid when readers shop through your links.
- Submit your longer, informational posts to Associated Content. They'll pay you a few bucks for each post they decide to publish.
- Commission Junction - Hundreds of companies do affiliate marketing through them. You select the companies you wish to partner with, and if you're approved, you can put their ads on your site and get paid when people shop through them.
- Share-a-Sale - Another affiliate marketing program with hundreds of other companies.
- Logical Media - Still another affiliate marketing program. This one has far fewer companies, but sometimes pays on clicks for free samples. This is a popular one, so you'll see lots of other blogs with the same ads.
- Brandcaster by Coupons.com - Get your own printable coupons button and earn a few cents every time someone prints a coupon.
Hope some of you find this list helpful. Stay tuned for my last post on all the coupon sites!
I should mention that I still haven't had any volunteers to take over the Grocery Gathering posts. Any takers? Want to help out others in your area by posting the best deals you see at Kroger, Randall's, and/or HEB? It could really increase your blog traffic! Let me know and I'll pass it along to my readers and BeCentsAble!

All Good Things Must Come to An End
Friends, I'm sorry to say that I've decided to discontinue this blog. I have had so much fun writing it and have been so encouraged by your comments and emails telling me that I've helped you save money. That was my whole purpose in writing this - to help you find ways to better save and invest your money.
But alas, I must admit, I am not superwoman. And I just don't have enough hours in the day for all that I am trying to do right now. I'm trying to parent two small children, stay on top of therapy options, teaching methods, and insurance issues related to having a child with special needs, be a decent wife to my husband, keep our finances in order, help with several ministries at church, and write two blogs. Something's gotta give.
I've never been someone to halfway do something. So, if I can't commit to posting regularly or staying on top of deals and frequently letting you know about them, then I just don't think it's right for me to continue with this blog. You have few precious hours each day - I don't want you wasting time constantly checking back here only to find I haven't posted anything new!
The good news is there are so many other great money saving blogs out there! Before I sign off, I will provide you with a complete list of where I find coupons and deals so you will be armed with that information. If you are one of my Texas readers and you have a blog (or would like to start one) and you would be interested in taking over the grocery deals post I do on Wednesday, please let me know. I would be happy to have a place to point my readers to!
I will be continuing the other blog I write. It is much more of a personal blog about our family and is also intended to be a resource for families with special needs children. Feel free to stop by and visit me over there anytime. Who knows? I may not be able to resist posting a good deal or two over there every once in a while!
I will also be keeping my email address: blogbyjenny (at) gmail (dot) com. So if you ever have a question about investing or saving money, feel free to shoot me an email and I'll do my best to respond quickly.
Thank you again for reading. And come back at least a few more times so you can read the last coupon of posts I have planned!

Save a Little Here and a Little There
We've had a very busy week here. And when life gets busy, blogging has to get put on the back burner. Sorry I've been so absent lately.
Anyhow, I thought I'd pass along some coupons you might can use:
If you hurry, you can use this $5/$20 Walgreens coupon (ends today). Money Saving Mom lists a few deals you might be able to score.
If Hurricane Ike took some of your landscaping with him, you might want to print these Home Depot coupons for B1G1 50% off shrubs or B1G1 50% off bulbs. Or check out Spring Hill Nursery - they're having a sitewide 50% off sale. We ordered a couple of plants from them several months ago and have been really pleased.
If Hurricane Ike damaged more than just your fence and shrubs, Pottery Barn Kids is offering you 15% off any purchases to help refurnish your home: "Simply visit one of our Greater Houston Area Pottery Barn Kids stores and show your American Red Cross Voucher, completed insurance claim form, or other government issued documentation evidencing your loss. The discount will be applied to all in-store purchases and in-store catalog orders. The discount does not apply to tax and excludes gift cards. The discount is good for 12 months from date of documentation."
Have a good weekend!
